Queen Elizabeth II was the longest reigning monarch in British history. She was born on April 21, 1926, in London, England. Her father, Prince Albert, (later King George VI), was the 2nd son of King George V and Queen Mary. Elizabeth's mother, Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon, was the youngest daughter of the 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne.
